“I perhaps owe it to flowers for having become a painter.” Monet
Growing up exploring every inch of my grandparents’ farm in Missouri, has given me a deep love of the land. These childhood experiences left me with an enduring appreciation of nature’s loveliness, which spills over into my monotypes and watercolors.
My art celebrates beauty and encourages the viewer to reflect on and appreciate earth’s treasures. I hunt for organic materials and later use them as images in my work. In both my watercolors and monotypes, I layer pigments and papers as metaphors for the complexity of life and the multiple imprints our experiences and relationships leave on us. No matter the subject, my paintings are quiet and contemplative, whether they are a flower, a meadow, a forest, or a dancer deep in thought. My art, influenced by my faith, speaks of the human soul’s need for reflection. Quiet moments and tranquil places are elevated to positions of prominence in my art.
